ProSEL-16
application notes

ProSEL-16 has been put into public domain by its author Dr. Glen Bredon. It's a great toolbox and program launcher that will possibly become one of your favorite software.

There are two flavours of ProSEL, an 8-bit and a 16-bit version. Each package includes a volume repair utility ("Volume Repair" in ProSEL-16 and "Mr.Fixit" in ProSEL-8). Unfortunately, these utilities do not handle the year 2000 properly. We have therefore included a patched version of Mr. Fixit which has been kindly provided by Mr. Tony Diaz.

Please use "Mr.Fixit" to scan your volumes for errors and not ProSEL-16's "Volume Repair". Mr. Fixit is in the utilities folder. Upon starting Mr. Fixit, you will see a version string reading "4.5 Y2K" on its startup screen.

There is also a Y2K Patcher that makes all the tools in ProSEL Y2K compatible. This tool patches a number of system files. We do not recommend using this patcher as is modifies date routines so they no longer conform to Apple's specifications. You might not want to do this. You should not see any noteworthy Y2K problems with ProSEL besides what's mentioned above.
